Replace internal SATA Drive or Reinstall firmware to perfect Factory Default of Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive ((MHNDHD) only

Spanish keywords: Reemplazar disco duro SATA Interno o Reinstalar el firmware para un Reseteo de Fábrica perfecto del equipo NAS Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive

Don't try this on model "Cloud Edition" it will not work or HMND2
Perfect for: Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive
Source: http://iomega.nas-central.org/wiki/Installing_firmware_on_a_new_disk_(Home_Media)

You could use this procedure if you forgot the local password of the managment console, you have backed up all your files or if you want to install a bigger drive on the NAS

1. You will need a DVD or USB with Ubuntu Desktop or a Laptop or Desktop with Ubuntu Installed
2. In this case i'll use Ubuntu DVDR
http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop#
3. Install the new SATA Drive on the desktop
4. boot and start Ubuntu Live
5. open a terminal (ctrl+alt+t)
6. reset Live cd root password with

#sudo passwd root
(follow screen instructions to reset root password)
5. now you can use root
#su
(use the root password when it prompts)
6) follow the next steps exactly as it shown.  In the scenario you have 1 principal disk (your Windows, Linux, Ubuntu disk) and the new sata disk (be careful to not erase your own laptop or desktop disk)

7)

Find device name

Find the device name of the disk:
cat /proc/partitions
You can recognize the disk by it's size. (The size is given in 'blocks', which is 1 KiB)

I'll assume the disk is sdb for the rest of the story.

Collect files

Download mbr+uboot+kernel.gz and sda1-2064.tgz here.

Become root

You'll need to have root rights to do the next steps. In Ubuntu or Knoppix you can get these by executing
sudo su
In most other flavors you just execute
su

ESTO ES DESTRUCTIVO OJO EN NO EQUIVOCARTE DE /dev

MBR, uBoot and kernel

Write mbr+uboot+kernel.gz to disk:
gzip -dc /full/path/to/mbr+uboot+kernel.gz | dd of=/dev/sdb
(when using sudo for root things, this should be
gzip -dc /full/path/to/mbr+uboot+kernel.gz | sudo dd of=/dev/sdb
)

Change data partition size

Use fdisk to remove partition 2, and add it again. Primary partition. (your disk will have a different size than the mbr donor).
fdisk is started by:
fdisk /dev/sdb
and use 'm' to get further help.
Change the partitiontype of partition 2 to fd.
Write partitiontable and exit fdisk.
SENCILLO SOLO METE LOS CARACTERES Y LOS ENTER COMO SE DESCRIBE

For the lazy people, the exact keystrokes in fdisk are:
d{enter}2{enter}(delete partition 2)
n{enter}p{enter}2{enter}(create new, primary, partition at slot 2)
{enter}{enter} (default start- end endsector)
t{enter}2{enter}fd{enter}(change type of partition 2 to 'fd')
w{enter}(write changes and exit)

System partition

Format partition 1:
mke2fs -j /dev/sdb1
Create a mountpoint, and mount partition 1:
mkdir /tmp/sdb1
mount /dev/sdb1 /tmp/sdb1
Install the rootfs:
cd /tmp/sdb1
tar -xzf /full/path/to/sda1-2064.tgz
The last command might give a lot of errors about unresolved symlinks in /etc/ssl/. This is normal. The symlinks point to files which really don't exist

Data partition

Format partition 2:
mkfs -t xfs /dev/sdb2
It is possible that you have to install xfsprogs first. On Ubuntu or Debian:
apt-get install xfsprogs

Ready

When you put this disk in your Home Media, it should work.
On a Home Media the MAC address is stored on the disk. For this disk image it's 00:d0:b8:09:68:1e. If you want to change it, you'll have to edit /etc/modules.
DHCP must be enabled on the network
use http://assigneddhcpaddress to reconfigura the Iomega drive
EXITOS

Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive (MHNDHD) file recovery after "Factory Self Erase"

Spanish keywords: recuperar archivos de un Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive (MHNDHD) después de qué automáticamente retornó a su estado de fábrica

Tools:
  • Standard Screwdriver
Hardware:
  • Desktop PC with Windows 7 installed
  • an adittional free SATA connector
  • Enough free space on drive C:
Software:

Objectives:
  • Try to find a Iomega XFS Data Partition
  • Try to restore overwrited XFS Data Partition by accidental factory reset
  • Try to restore overwrited files on XFS Data Partition by "SELF factory reset"
Steps:
  1. Warranty that you have 1 hard drives with enough space
  2. Install Windows on drive in SATA 0 port
  3. Shutdown computer
To dissasemble the drive
  • Unplug LAN and Power Cord and Carefully Disasembly Iomega Hard Drive, take out the two screws on the back, BE EXTREMLY CAREFUL the disk could slide out and crash, take out the "fan connector" just the white connector, if you pull from cable you'll broke the fan plug.  Later take out the four screws from the side of the internal sata disk
  • A dissasembly video from Geek Street is on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLAGPBaixbw)
  1. Install the internal SATA on your Desktop computer on port SATA 1 (don't use SATA-to-USB adapters these are extremely slow if you need to recover a bunch of files)
  2. Click NO if Windows Ask to format a "x: drive" letter
  3. Just don't try to browse the partitions from Windows.  Run compmgmt.msc to open "Disk Management" to see if the drive appears, again Click NO if Windows ask to initialize disk or "Reactivate Disk", just check that you see your C:\ drive and a second disk with three partitions (two small and one large)
  4. Install and actívate the Raise Data Recovery for XFS
  5. Open the program and right clic on "the biggest XFS partition" that you found on the secondary disk, and clic "Recover", don't forget to check "Intelligent RAW" checkbox
  6. Once you see the file tree on Raise Data Recovery Program, restore on drive C:\ or a network share.  The recovery chances is 100% but the recovery of filenames is only about 80%, so you will need to rename several or hundred of files.  (install msoffice, adobe , etc) you'll have a lot of time to spent putting the right name on files.
  7. To get the initial FileTree will take about 8 hours on a 50% used 1TB hard drive.
  8. Later you could have a 24 hour wait for total recovery of the files.

Good Luck

Ubee Residential Gateway - Login Page Missing

Spanish Keywords: Botón/Página de Inicio de sesión de un cable modem Ubee Residential Gateway no aparece
Fuente 1: http://thepcsecurity.com/ubee-modem-default-passwords-router-username-login-details/
Fuente 2: http://www.laneros.com/archive/t-214350.HTML

- Download and unzip http://www.snmpsoft.com/freetools/snmpwalk.html on c:\snmpwalk
- open Cmd as administrator
- run c:\snmpwalk\snmpwalk -r:192.168.0.1 -t:30 -os:.1.3.6.1.2.1.4.20 -aw reporte.txt
if you get a timeout try again the same command until you get a several snmp oids on a reporte.txt file (a working file must have almost 80k)
- open reporte.txt file with notepad

You'll need at least this several OIDs data: (if you cant find 1.3.6.xxxxx OIDs run snmpwalk until you get something like this somewhere in the file)
OID=.1.3.6.1.2.1.4.20.1.1.10.42.9.133, Type=IpAddress, Value=10.42.9.133
OID=.1.3.6.1.2.1.4.20.1.1.10.42.133.104, Type=IpAddress, Value=10.42.133.104
OID=.1.3.6.1.2.1.4.20.1.1.127.0.0.1, Type=IpAddress, Value=127.0.0.1
OID=.1.3.6.1.2.1.4.20.1.1.190.131.161.28, Type=IpAddress, Value=190.131.161.28
OID=.1.3.6.1.2.1.4.20.1.1.192.168.0.1, Type=IpAddress, Value=192.168.0.1
OID=.1.3.6.1.2.1.4.20.1.1.192.168.100.1, Type=IpAddress, Value=192.168.100.1

On Internet Explorer you should try listed IPs until you get the "Login Button" on the left side of the screen using

or you can try until you get user/password login screen running as i do:

The default password for Ubee Modems are:

Vendor – ModelAccess TypeUsernamePassword
Ubee – U10C019 (Ambit Firmware)useruser
Ubee – U10C022 (Ambit Firmware)admincableroot

if you use user/user combination probably you could not Access the advanced modem settings

Cisco 801 / 881 reset to factory defaults and enable access from Cisco Configuration Professional

Spanish keywords: Resetear contraseña Cisco 801/881 Resetear Estado de Fábrica

To reset a Cisco 801 / 881 to factory defaults, you must:

1. unplug AC cord
2. press the reset button and hold it
3. plug de AC Cord, count less than 5 seconds (5,4,3,2 - plug)
4. wait until the router reset
5. test with a dhcp client on ethernet port 0

10.10.10.2 ip must be assigned to your desktop or laptop, the cisco router must have the 10.10.10.1 ip.

You could access the router with http://10.10.10.1 or http://10.10.10.2 the one use user and password is cisco / cisco, but this console don't work fine

You must create another privilege 15 user.  So enter with putty to a secure shell (ssh).

Remember that the cisco / cisco user and password combination is for a single login, later the cisco user expires so:

1. connect with putty and run this command to config the first settings of router
  • enable
  • configure terminal

2. create a local user
  • username admin privilege 15 secret cisco

  • with this you create a "admin" user with password "cisco" change as you wish

    3. enable http or https
    • ip http server
    or
    • ip http secure-server
    4. Enable local user authentication
    • ip http authentication local
Now you can use Cisco Configuration Professional to configure DHCP, NAT or Advanced Firewall Rules.
