do you have the driver files? Can you find the .inf file for the NIC? I ran into a similar problem a while back but I did have the drivers with me. If you have the inf file then you can run the pnputil command to install the driver for the NIC.
pnputil -i -a filename.inf
where filename.inf is the inf file name.
